MY STORY
Cars, bikes, trucks, boats and speed have always been my thing.
My connection with cars goes back long before Top Drone. I spent more than 25 years working as a mechanic, so I've always been interested in how things work, although as cars became more complex, even a straightforward job would require taking half the vehicle apart!
I've also always enjoyed filming and photographing cars, so I eventually decided to hang up my overalls and turn that hobby into a career in photography and filmmaking.
The racing side of motoring has been a big part of my life too. I spent a season racing a Ford Fiesta XR2 in Stock Hatch with the 750 Motor Club, before getting into drifting and track days.
I turned my 325i 1988 BMW E30 daily driver into a drift missile, fitting adjustable coilovers, a welded diff before moving to an LSD, and an E36 M52B28 2.8-litre engine. I spent several years taking it to drift days and circuits around the UK and Ireland. I even had plans for an S60 V8 swap but, as often happens, life got in the way!
Motorsport has always been a big interest of mine, from rallying and Formula 1 to MotoGP, car shows and everything in between.
Why automotive photography?
For me, photographing and filming cars is a natural extension of that background.
I don't just see a car as a subject. I appreciate the engineering, details, stance, sound, movement and character that make each vehicle different.
Whether it's a classic, performance car, modified build or rally car, my aim is to simply capture what makes that particular vehicle special.
Now I get to combine decades of experience around cars with photography, filmmaking and drone work and it's something I genuinely enjoy doing.
